Isang araw sa journey ni aagizer (ako yun!) ay may narealize ako...anO naman yun?! Yun ay ang epekto nang ating mga naririnig sa tabi-tabi nang di sinasadya na nagdudulot nang pagka-Sayad ng ating utak...(oO! SAYAD! ako minsan may sayad!!)

LALO na yung maririnig mo ay isang uri nang... Panlalait, Pang-asar, Banat, Churvaloo, Chenelyn at syempre "BIRO o JOKE" kumbaga.

Marami sa mga Chenelyn Chenes na itetch ay bumebenta talaga sa tao... (anu ba yun? pati ako nag-ala gay lingo na!!) OO! BUMEBENTA ang banat nang iba at yung iba ay wakesh (ang bakla ang potek!) at nabibilang sa bansang LAOS!!

...sa mahaba kong introduction sa BLOG na ito ay eto na ang "CLIMAX" nang aking kwento.

akO'y nakasakay sa FX na kung saan ang mga kasama ko nung araw na yun sa Loob ay purO "LOVEBIRDS"...Tukaan nang tukaan sa fx...ang iingay! ang dadaldal! Hindi na lang ako gayahin..tahimik lang habang nag-iisip...(meron nga ba akong isip?!) Yun nah!!! tapos si Kuya Driver ay binuksan ang kanyang bonggang-bonggang stereo at bongga ulit dahil di cya nag Mp3 player, nag AM RADIO sya! (aba'y kuya! heller! bababa na po ako!!) Syempre DZMM yung station, pagkatapos patugtugin ang sikat na kanta nina Korina Sanchez at Ted Failon na "Gigimut-gimot" eh ang susunod na programa ay...wow!ang showbiz! title pa lang...isang malaking KABAKLAAN na!! hahaha! todo kinig naman ang aagizer sa radyo...(di na kasi ako in sa mga artista ngayon!) sooo, sa aking pakikinig ay meron daw silang inimbitahan na isang "stand-up commedianne" para maki-co-host kay Ogie Diaz...at yun ay walang iba kundi ang Best Friend nyang si "VIce Ganda".

Todo Kinig na naman ang Aa...(Kasi I Love Stand-up Commedianne po...for the simplest reason na i just "LOVE to LAUGH")...akala ko naman at SHOWBIZ ang usapan eh biglang bumanat ang Vice Ganda nang "MAHAL na ang Bilihin Ngayon!!" (tumililing na naman ang tenga ko at sabi ko..."SHEEET!! ayoko nang usapang Krisis!! potek!!") yun naman pala ay may kakaibang "MAHAL" ang ibig sabihin ng Commedianne na ito... yun ay ang THE ONE AND THE ONLY...."MAHAL" ang the One and the Only "Cutie Cute! Cute! ang potah!"

Grabe ang mga naibanat ni Vice Ganda patungkol kay Mahal...Walang nagawa ang gloomy kong mukha sa loob nang mainit na FX kundi Ibanat din ang mukha ko at ngumiti...isa sa mga nakakaaliw na moments ni vice ay ang kanyang MAHAL JOKES, syempre ito ay patungkol sa kanyang bestfriend na miniature star na si MAHAL. grabeng nakakatawa talaga, pramis. kaya heto ang ilan sa nahagip ko...

... sa 15th floor ang unit ni mahal sa kanyang tinutuluyang condo, pero sa 10th pa lang ay umaawas na siya sa elevator... BAKIT? kasi naman, hanggang 10th floor button lang ang kanyang naabot pindutin!

... pagkabili ni mahal ng donuts, takbo agad siya sa pool... BAKIT? obvious ba? magsuswimming ang lokah... gagawin niyang salbabida ang donuts!

... sa isang sporting store, pili siya nang pili ng wristband; mag-aala-ERAP na ba siya? wa, noh? kailangan niya ng tube blouse!

... at maselan siya sa gamit, ang ganda nga raw ng bagong brush niya sa buhok, kaya lang ang hirap gamitin, kailangan may magbabrush sa kanya kasi ang haba ng tangkay... ORACARE kaya ang brand, noh????

... tuwang-tuwa sa galak si mahal one day, ang dahilan hev na raw siya ng LAPTOP! aba, hindi na talaga siya ma-reach ha? kaya lang complain siya nang complain! WHY NAMAN? kasi puro numbers lang ang lumalabas sa screen... hay, mahal... CALCULATOR 'yan noh???

Sabi ng mga kaibigan kong tomboy, minsan daw, nakaka-get sila ng babaeng makaka-s*x nang hindi nila binabayaran. Para ding mga straight guys na minsan talk show lang at isang bote ng beer, confirmed na! Yung mga baklang mukhang babae at maganda, siguro nakaka-get ng libre, pero prangkahan na, yung iba hindi. Kahit mayaman ang bakla or sikat at powerful, pay pa din. Yung iba, hindi cash. Minsan, career or trabaho. Minsan, damit or rubber shoes. Basta, may kapalit pa rin. May mga kaibigan akong nagmamaganda. Mahal daw sila ng kanilang mga straight boyfriends. Parang boring ang kumalat na picture ng Mocha girls na naghahalikan. Pero kung member ng all-male group ang may kumalat na picture na naglalaplapan, kahit biruan lang din tulad ng sa Mocha, I’m sure-manicure-pedicure-kulot, hanggang next year ay headline ‘yon. Pagchi-chismisan sa beauty parlor, palengke, school, opisina, prisinto, at sa batis habang naglalaba. Kasi recently ko lang nalaman, na ‘pag dalawang babae pala ang naghalikan, natuturn-on ang mga lalaki. Pero ‘pag dalawang lalaki ang naghalikan, hindi naman natuturn-on ang mga babae, worst, nandidiri sila. Biased, di ba? Kawawang bakla.

Pag ang mga lalaki nambabae, sasabihin “macho.” Pero pag namakla, “kadiri.” Kawawang bakla.

Pag ang bakla mukhang babae, maganda. Pero ang babae pag mukang bakla, pangit. Hahaha. Kawawang bakla.

Eto, talagang totoo. Pag ang baklang pa-girl malaki ang nota, alaskado siya sa mga kaibigan niyang bakla. Ang tomboy na pamin pag matambok ang pechay, kaiinggitan ng mga kaibigan niyang tomboy. Suwerteng tomboy, kawawang bakla.

Ang dami kong kaibigang Filipino-Chinese na tomboy at accepted ng family nila. Ang dami kong kaibigang Filipino-Chinese na tagong bakla. Yung iba umamin na lang noong patay na ang tatay nila. Kawawang bakla.

Pag may dumaan na bakla, sumisigaw ang mga batang kalye ng, “Bakla! Bakla!” Pero parang hindi pa ako nakarinig na sumigaw sila ng, “Tomboy! Tomboy!” Kawawang bakla.
Ang mga baklang nakadamit-babae, posibleng mabastos pag pumasok sa C.R. ng boys. Pag ang tomboy pumasok sa C.R. ng girls, okay lang na nakadamit-lalaki. Hindi kaya dahil lalaki lang ang nambabastos? Kawawang bakla.

Nabanggit ko na ito dati. Ang dami kong nakikitang tomboy na may ka-holding hands na babae. May nakita na ba kayong baklang hinolding hands ng boyfriend niya? In public, ha. Kawawang bakla.

Yung isang kaibigan kong tomboy, tuwang-tuwa daw ang tatay niyang sundalo nang malamang tomboy siya. Yung kaibigan kong bakla, binugbog ng tatay na sundalo nang malamang bakla. Kaloka. Kawawang bakla.

Pag ang anak na lalaki or babae masama ang ugali, ang tawag “black sheep.” Pag bakla ang anak na masama ang ugali, ang tawag “salot.” May kaibigan nga ako na mabait naman, salot pa din ang turing ng pamilya. Maryosep, kawawang bakla.

Sabi ni Willie Revillame, kawawa naman daw ang anak ni Pokwang kasi tinutukso sa school. Naisip ko lang, kung bakla ang co-host sa Wowowee at sinabihang “mukhang aswang” ni Joey, masasabi rin kaya ni Willie na kawawa naman ang mga pamangkin ni bakla kasi tinutukso sa school? Ano sa sa plagay niyo? Sana naman…Kasi ‘pag hindi, kawawa si bakla.

May mga artistang babae at lalaki na pangit na, wala pang laman ang utak. Itsura pa lang kasi, nakakatawa na. Ang mga baklang pangit, kailangan medyo witty at matalino. Kung hindi, kawawa kang bakla ka.

Which made me think. Ang mga bakla lang ang makakaisip ng ganoon. Hindi na papasukin sa langit pero nakuha pang mag-taray at lumigaya sa pag-slide sa rainbow.

Dito sa Pilipinas, sa Quezon City na lang, tabi-tabi ang gay bar. Lesbian bar, may nakita ka na?

Alam niyo ba na may mga spa at massage parlor na para lang sa mga bakla? Bongga!

Ano pa itsura ng pangit sa barkada nila?” May barkada naman akong babae. Pinakilala sa akin yung manliligaw niya. Super guwapo daw. Pucha, pagkakita ko, napa-C.R. ako.

Ang mga bakla, masaya kasama. Maingay, nakakatawa at hindi boring.

Come to think of it. Hindi rin pala kami masyadong kawawa. Mga bakla, tara na sa Rainbow at mag-slide-slide in this particular order:

RED- Mga baklang pa-girl, operada at mukhang babae. Go, mga sisters!

ORANGE- Mga batang bakla. Slide na, mga anak!

GREEN- Mga paminta, mukhang lalaki, members ng guys4men.com. Slide na, mga pare!

YELLOW- Mga baklang may asawa at anak. You deserved to be happy. Slide na!

VIOLET- Mga baklang bisexual, dito kayo kasi alanganing red, alanganing blue. Go!

R A V I S H I N G !!!

LOVE STORY that innovates the young minds of this generation from the modern flick taste of the new generation with their take of (quote and quote) "LOVE STORY"...iba na kasi Love Story ngayon eh, may kasama nang kanta (HS Musical churva!), may sayaw na rin (Hairspray eklavoo!) at ang mabenta sa lahat, Hubaran. Hindi naman sa pangit na, for a difference naman ulit at hindi na rin masyadong ma-pollute and teenage minds eh let's get some integration and give justice to the labels of age bracket na "young adult" with emphasis sa "ADULT" kasi pasulong ang pagmature sa isip hindi pausog...hoo! hahaha!

Siguro hindi rin iba yung plot na "forbidden love" but ang catch lang sa novel is that it's between a mortal and immortal with a taste of youthful blend.

CHAPTER 17 pa lang ako actually (THE GAME)...i just can't help but to voice out how i love this modern yet treasuring the old times novel of Stephenie Meyer. Named as "THE #1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER" while dito sa pilipinas, "National Bookstore's #1 FICTION STORY Bestseller" (eh kamusta naman ang National Bookstore dba?!)...

syempre medyo mixed lang ako sa ibang part ng novel. technically, sobra ang reliance ng book sa pag gamit ng adjectives and adverbs para sa ikakagaganda ng dialogue PERO, NGUNIT, SUBALIT at DATAPWA'T may kurot sa puso hanggang kaluluwa ang tanggap at approach ng dialogue..(knowing filipinos..hmmm... mabilis kiligin!!! hmpf!)

Edward as i will describe is melancholy with very melodramatic energy ang approach.
while
Bella's appeal is based on magic rather than character.

This can be a favorite of those who Love, Love Stories syempre! pero with a Class kasi Hello naman, may integration naman itong story na toh compared sa mga binabasa ng mga katulong na pocket book noh! heller! haha!

Yes! Yes! Yes! Here is my second Critic after my first on the indie Filipino film, "Jay"...

INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE: THE VAMPIRE CHRONICLES

(1994)

The Film is is based on the 1976 novel of Anne Rice with the same title. The Movie on the other hand is directed by Neil Jordan (The End of the Affair, The Brave One) and top billed by actors Brad Pitt and Tom Cruise with Antonio Banderas and the very young in the film, Kirsten Dunst. It was indeed a Box Office Success generating over a $100 million domestically only.

My Critic:

I am currently a Vampire Lover...I've seen 3 Vampire Movies and this was the third of it...first is Queen of the Damned & second is Bram Stoker's Dracula. I Must say, THIS IS THE ULTIMATE VAMPIRE MOVIE. Of course, consisting of the two sexiest male vampires ever created- Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt. (hahaha! what a bias of mine!)I must admit at first I thought Tom Cruise was a touch too 'apple pie' for this role, but he ultimately knocked my socks off! In fact, he is my second favourite vampire ever, second only to the incredible Gary Oldman in "Bram Stoker's Dracula". And Brad Pitt - oooh Brad Pitt - is hands down the most gorgeous vampire ever. And he played the role of Louis convincingly... but in my eyes would've suited the role of Lestat as well. If you love vampire movies, violence and gore, with a touch of romance and sadness then you will also love this film. To Kirsten Dunst, she is wicked and Dark here...parang di ako sanay kasi una ko siyang nakitang teeny-boper sa Bring it On bago ko napanuod toh! It was a great performance for Dunst. It was not a disappointing performance for Tom knowing that before the movie has started to film, names were rumored on the role of Lestat (the late River Pheonix was chosen but 4 weeks before they started filming, he past away; Johnny Depp was also considered bu turned it down and the author's choice at first, Julian Sands).

Over all, It was a Success Theatrically and Critically. One of the most Unforgettable Vampire Movie in the Movie History. I must include this on my 100 films before you die (w/c would i be enumerating soon...)

Well, it was a plan for the barkada talaga to watch films together and it was one of our kaberkz, "Berna" to invite us to watch Cinemalaya Films @ UP coz UP is having their own run of Cinemalaya Films of 2008 and since Berna is a Film Student at UP it was no hard time for us to get tickets and watch the movie.

It was reported kasi na sa Original Run niya sa CCP-PICC ay Sold Out tickets na ang movie na "Jay" and in the Cinemalay Awards, "Jay" won the Best Picture and Baron Geisler won as Best Actor. Naintriga naman ako and put interest on the film. Since I Love Films and I am also a Film Critic myself! At first, ayoko pa kasi i knew na Coco Martin is part of the Film, eh akala ko may too much sexually content ang movie. And Since ipapalabas sa UP naisip ko pa na NO CENSORSHIP ang movie...pero ayun, I was all wrong...THE MOVIE IS FANTASTIC and FIRST IN MY EYE!! as in!

This is my Review for it...

For me the unexpected triumph of the Film. Thank God for a movie like this--something long overdue given the insidious pervasiveness of our vapid TV culture. Spare, deadpan, brutally hilarious, Jay comments on--nay, eviscerates--the sheer artificiality and untruth of so-called reality television. And it does this without raising a voice--or, rather, without its damn good lead actor, Baron Geisler, doing so.

Playing a sweetly manipulative TV reporter who'd do anything, including re-creating scenes of genuine tragedy, to get his story, Geisler paces through his chores with nary a flutter of his gay character's well-scrubbed hands. He keeps everything soft-spoken, low-key, and yet by the end he conveys, with enormous power, the monstrous deceit of his actions. That precise, economical performance becomes the unblinking insider's eye that lets us take a peek at the fraudulent myth-making he creates for our tawdry consumption.

No Wonder he won Best Actor in the Cinemalaya Film Festival.

It's not just his performance that's commendable. Pasion's script is sharp, subtle, complex and thought-provoking, playing with and rearranging our notions of illusion and reality, truth and make-believe right up to the very last frame. (Brilliant lang yung tingin ko sa pagbrain storm nang mga kasama niya to work in the film to give us mixed genre and make it effective and not boring! talagang bebenta kasi yung twist and story line!) His multi-layered storytelling owes a debt to Almodovar, particularly to Bad Education, which, with generous dollops of bite and humor, also teased out the fine points of reality-making and truth-telling and the hazy subtexts in between.

At its most inspired, specifically the scenes of a wake in a barrio, Jay is howlingly funny, yet also piercingly discerning. You find yourself laughing and nodding your head at the same time. It's not the easiest film to make, thematically and stylistically; a few pushy moments induce the fear that it will inevitably lurch into camp or overwrought, self-conscious pomposity. But its poise holds throughout, giving us a movie whose grim vision will, I believe, only acquire prescient, consequential weight from now on--let TV be damned.

One of the FEW movies I Enjoyed and LOVE watching this 2008...(basically 3 pa nga lang ang movies na nagugustuhan ko both international and local movies na napapalabas!)

I Heard from berna na "100" which is also part of the Cinemalaya 08' is very interesting and well acted & directed..Better than Jay she added. I am looking forward to catch 100 and watch it too! I LOVE INDIE FILMS NA!!! They are all sooo UNIQUE and BRILLIANT!

One Night, I was watching "THE SINGING BEE"...masingit ko lang toh ha.. may kaibigan ba naman ako na nagtanong sa akin, "aa nanonood ka ba nang buboy for short?! galing nang mga singers dun!" TAENA! Babatukan ko sana kaso Babae! haay! Singing Bee ineng! wag bobobeng bobeng!

ANYWAY..GOING BACK! ----> ayun nga, I remember si Apple Chiu (yung isa sa mga singers nang singing bee) yung kumanta nang song na ito eh... ang lyrics pa nga na to fill in ay ganito.. yung kinantang part ay.."Zoom You chase thatday away, High Noon the moon and stars came out to play, and then my whole wide world went _______" ayun! hindi nasagot..ang tamang sagot ay..."Zoom You chase thatday away,Hig Noon the moon and stars came out to play, and then my whole wide world went ZOOM" "TING!"

as my memory recall...naalala ko ang song na ito...I use to Listen to this song before, kaso iba lang yung beat sa singing bee kasi Live yun diba...naalala ko na nga na it's Regine Velasquez nga pala! Wala lang! Naalala ko pa dati, it's Like hearing an International Singer Sing this Song...Yung pagkakakanta kasi is kung kilala mo na si Regine Agad yung boses, madidistinguish mo agad pero kung radio listener ka and you heard the song first time, iisipin mo talaga na it's not a Filipino Artist...It's a not-so-Regine Song...One of Regine's Song and infairness it's not a Regine Birit dull song...this is not so Famous Song of Regine pero tumatatak sa mga OPM listeners and goer...

The Song really grows on me. This was first released and heard way back 1996 so calculation to the present is it's like 12 years ago na ang Song...wOw! but still, much appreciated by OPM listeners! Napa-Singing Bee pa nga eh! Oh diba!

Basta when you Listen to the Song think of the HAPPY Things and Be Young....

Therefore, Wu usually harmonizes as the supporting voice but sings more in songs when they are intended for a lower key. Wu's voice can be easily distinguished from his accent. Jiro Wang's vocal ranges is less wide when compared to Wu's, but Wang has a higher voice, closer to a tenor approach with vocal belting techniques. His voice is the easiest to distinguish out of the four because of its nasal sound. Calvin Chen and Aaron Yan are the baritone to tenor vocalists of the group, and therefore are the predominant voices in most of their songs. Although their voices are difficult to distinguish at times, Yan's voice has a richer and higher voice and usually does the singing the melody with a vibrato while Chen usually does the supporting vocals. Ultimately, Yan has been acknowledged as the member with the most impressive vocal ability. In most songs, Wu Chun sings the harmony, while Calvin takes the higher harmony, and Aaron sings the melody and often any parts of the songs which require a rich and high voice, and Jiro either does melody as well, or does the other parts of the songs, i.e rapping.

Rise to stardom

Before Fahrenheit released their first album in September 15 of 2006, they gained minor attention as singers from contributing in several Taiwanese drama soundtracks. Their popularity immediately rose after the soundtracks were released, but was only limited to Taiwan and Mainland China. After their first album was released, their fan base had extended to Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia . Overseas fans such as from North America and Europe are also getting more familiar with them.

As soon as announcements for their debut album pre-order was released on August 30, 2006, the album broke past 10,000 copies. [3] After its release in September 15, 2006, the album entered the G-music charts and was ranked #2. It was less than 1% below Jay Chou's Still Fantasy album, which came out two weeks prior to the release. [4] Fahrenheit's album sold passed an impressive 80,000 copies in Taiwan within the first month. [5] Ultimately on the G-music Mandarin Charts their album was ranked 11th for the top 20 of 2006 and stayed in the charts for 17 weeks. [6] Their primary song, or zhuda (Chinese: 主打; pinyin: zhǔ dǎ) song, "I Have My Youth" (我有我的Young) was on Hong Kong's Global Rhythm List as the Top 16th song for weeks. Their duet with Hebe of girl group S.H.E also won them several popular awards. Fahrenheit was also the first new foreign boy band to have won third place for Best Group at Hong Kong's TVB8 Awards. Although unable to defeat their seniors S.H.E and Twins, who had won first place and second place respectively, they have beaten Hong Kong's local boy bands such as Sun Boy'z and Soler. In less than a year, Fahrenheit has already won eight awards. Despite the outburst of winning multiple awards, there had been debates where fans disagreed with the awards that they have won. The most debated topic was when Fahrenheit won HITO Music Awards 2007's Best Male Group award, arguing that Fahrenheit is too inexperienced to have won the award.

Well, about 10:30 am in the philippines and about 8:45 pm in America, The Winner has been announced...after months of the search, it's up to the DAVIDS..

I'm really nervous because America has been a bit Crazy in terms of Music Industry is concern. What sells to them nowadays are the too much hip-hop and too much R&B and tooooo much of POP. I was nervous that my bet (David Cook) might be the runner up for David Archuleta because of the last nights performance where Simon Cowell forecasted that "It's a knock-out" for David Archuleta. sO...(Here comes the Cook Rocker Lovers and VOTE OVERNIGHT! hahaha! YahOOO!)

David Roland Cook, 25 years old from Houston Texas, was declared the winner, May 22, 2008 of the 7th Season of American Idol, recieving 56% of the votes cast and beating out runner-up David Archuleta by 12 Million Votes.

I Hope that with David Cook's Win, American Idol will regain it's ability and credibility for searching America's Superstar/Idol and not a Fallen Idol who is Famous after winning and losing in the sight of the people after few months...MONTHS?! Imagine?! Coz there have been comments that American Idol has loss it's Spark on Making and Putting it's winner into Stardom. Where's Ruben? Taylor? Fantasia? even Kelly Clarkson now? It Looks Like CARRIE UNDERWOOD is the Ultimate IDOL since her Triumph began in the 4rth Season. Even Jordin Sparks is quite a disappointment too coz her Album "Jordin Sparks" has turned Gold and haven't reached platinum yet and peaked only at top 12 of Billboard. well, thanks to her Collaboration with Chris Brown, No Air is a BIG HIT in the U.S and having ther the 2nd Idol having reached TOP 5 Position in the Billboard HOT 100; the first is of course, Kelly Clarkson.
at least now, AMERICA proved me wrong...THEY STILL prefer TALENT over LOOKS but no Offense to "Archie" (Archuleta) the Kid has Talent and has a Spark to Many People. BUT The Industry needs NEW wave of TALENT, not just singing Ballads at it's Prime. Got Me?! =)
So...WAY TO GO MY COOK!!! hahaha! DAVID COOK WINS!!!! Hope that He's talent would be recognized and his Record would be released Internationally!!! May he be as BIG as Leona Lewis that made it big by also joining a singing competition.

BRAD RENFRO (1982-2008)

Brad Renfro is one of the Hollywood’s Childstar in the 90’s. siguro comparable siya kay Patrick Garcia dito sa pinas. He is one of the Ultimate Crush ng Ate kO! I remeber she had poster of Brad Renfro with Devon Sawa sa Wall namin nung mga bata pa kami. Not quite a shock, kasi tagal niya ring nawala sa Hollywood scene but we are shocked in a way kasi the actor was once loved by the fans and admirers (isa na dun ang ate ko!).

The News:

Renfro was found dead on January 15, 2008 in his Los Angeles apartment, after he had reportedly spent the previous night drinking with friends. The cause of death has yet to be determined. He is survived by one son, known only as “Y Renfro”.

In 2005, Ledger received a Best Actor in a Drama Golden Globe nomination for his acclaimed performance in Brokeback Mountain, in which he plays Wyoming ranch hand Ennis Del Mar, who has a love affair with aspiring rodeo rider Jack Twist, played by Jake Gyllenhaal. In the New York Times review of the film, critic Stephen Holden wrote:

“Both Mr. Ledger and Mr. Gyllenhaal make this anguished love story physically palpable. Mr. Ledger magically and mysteriously disappears beneath the skin of his lean, sinewy character. It is a screen performance, as good as the best of Marlon Brando and Sean Penn.”

In another review in Rolling Stone, Peter Travers wrote:

“Ledger’s magnificent performance is an acting miracle. He seems to tear it from his insides. Ledger doesn’t just know how Ennis moves, speaks and listens; he knows how he breathes. To see him inhale the scent of a shirt hanging in Jack’s closet is to take measure of the pain of love lost.”

Ledger received “Best Actor of 2005″ awards for Brokeback Mountain from both the New York Film Critics Circle and the San Francisco Film Critics Circle. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance. In the same year, Ledger played a fictionalized version of Giacomo Casanova in Casanova. The film, a romantic comedy which co-starred Sienna Miller, drew mixed reviews from critics and failed to find a significant audience among general moviegoers.

In 2006, Ledger was invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. In 2007, he was one of six actors to portray different sides of singer Bob Dylan in the film I’m Not There.

On July 21, 2006, Ledger was officially confirmed to play iconic comic book villain The Joker in The Dark Knight, the sequel to the 2005 film Batman Begins, opposite fellow I’m Not There star Christian Bale. The film is set to debut on July 18, 2008.

The film The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, in which he had been cast, was in production at the time of his death.

THE NEWS:

Ledger was found dead in his fourth floor apartment at 421 Broome Street in the SoHo neighborhood of New York City on January 22, 2008. Ledger’s body was found at 3:26 p.m. EST by a housekeeper and a massage therapist, who entered the bedroom to find him face down, naked, and unconscious at the foot of his bed with sleeping pills on a nearby night table. Police found more prescription medication in the bathroom but did not find any illegal drugs. In the weeks before his death, Ledger had been taking Ambien, a sleeping tablet that has reportedly caused bizarre behaviour and deaths.

In reaction to his death, former partner Michelle Williams was reported as saying that she was “devastated” at the loss and had boarded a plane to New York City. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd released a statement saying, “It was with great sadness that I have learned of the passing of Heath Ledger… It is tragic that we have lost one of our nation’s finest actors in the prime of his life.”

The following eight food-related urban legends have, at one point, buzzed over our plates like a pesky fly. Which is true and which is hoax?

Urban Legend No. 1. Cat meat is one of the main ingredients of Siopao fillings.

Incidentally, according to my mom, she ate a lot of Siopao when she was pregnant with me. No wonder I can be a little catty.

My opinion: Probably true. And knowing the adventurous palate of the Chinese, I'm hoping it's only cat meat.

Urban Legend No. 2. An irate former employee of Coke (or Pepsi) placed razor blades inside a number of Coke (or Pepsi) in cans.

My opinion: Probably false.

Urban Legend No. 3. The powder added to sago drinks like Zagu and Shagoo contains toxic chemicals (Aramanth, Tartrazinbe, Oranjeel S, etc.) which can make one ill with diarrhea eczema, etc.

My opinion: Industry evidence says rumor is not true, but who cares if it is? A cool Buko Pandan flavored Zagu shake on a hot, sticky afternoon is sometimes worth the purported adverse effects.

Urban Legend No. 4. Jollibee uses earthworms as extenders for its beef burger patties.

My opinion: This may have a smidgen of truth to it. After all, earthworms are widely used in the food industry as meat extenders.

Urban Legend No. 5. Pictures of women relieving themselves inside the lavatory of one Don Henrico’s restaurant have been snapped through a hidden one-way mirror.

My opinion: Most likely false.

Urban Legend No. 6. Those free temporary tattoo stickers from Chikadees and Cheezels (junk-foods circa ‘80s) have hallucinogenic, drug-like effects when applied to the skin.

My opinion: Maybe true but I couldn’t care less when I was a kid. Those fake tattoos were as cool as Visionaries back then. But like Visionaries, they didn't last very long.

Urban Legend No. 7. The apple in McDonald’s apple pie is actually sayote.

My opinion: Probably true. In taste, sayote and apple are close cousins anyway so no big deal.

Urban Legend No. 8. A guy consumed a bucket of KFC fried chicken while watching a movie inside a cinema. After the movie, the guy looked inside the bucket and saw, lying among the chicken bones, a rat’s tail.

My opinion: For that poor guy’s sake, I sure hope not. Besides, how indiscriminating could you be to not know the difference between rat and chicken? C'mon now.

I'm sO haapy i participated and accepted the invitation to Dance at the SSA Foundation Day's Cultural Event that evening. I am so delighted to Dance again with my Pep mates in the squad!
