MY RATING FOR THE FILM: 5 out of 5
----------------------------------------

show.

See? Hindi usual yang dalawa na yan na
pagsamahing genre sa film.

6. Magaling ang scriptwriter! IDOL NA KITA! Ang galing ng mga twist sa story.

MOVIE: JAY

 [Directed by: Francis Pasion]

JULY 29, 2008 (TUESDAY)

@ UP Adarna Hall

*This Movie is part of the CINEMALAYA 2008 Film Entries.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, it was a plan for the barkada talaga to watch films together and it was one of our kaberkz, "Berna" to invite us to watch Cinemalaya Films @ UP coz UP is having their own run of Cinemalaya Films of 2008 and since Berna is a Film Student at UP it was no hard time for us to get tickets and watch the movie.

It was reported kasi na sa Original Run niya sa CCP-PICC ay Sold Out tickets na ang movie na "Jay" and in the Cinemalay Awards, "Jay" won the Best Picture and Baron Geisler won as Best Actor. Naintriga naman ako and put interest on the film. Since I Love Films and I am also a Film Critic myself!  At first, ayoko pa kasi i knew na Coco Martin is part of the Film, eh akala ko may too much sexually content ang movie. And Since ipapalabas sa UP naisip ko pa na NO CENSORSHIP ang movie...pero ayun, I was all wrong...THE MOVIE IS FANTASTIC and FIRST IN MY EYE!! as in!

"The Critics"

This is my Review for it...

For me the unexpected triumph of the Film. Thank God for a movie like this--something long overdue given the insidious pervasiveness of our vapid TV culture. Spare, deadpan, brutally hilarious, Jay comments on--nay, eviscerates--the sheer artificiality and untruth of so-called reality television. And it does this without raising a voice--or, rather, without its damn good lead actor, Baron Geisler, doing so.

Playing a sweetly manipulative TV reporter who'd do anything, including re-creating scenes of genuine tragedy, to get his story, Geisler paces through his chores with nary a flutter of his gay character's well-scrubbed hands. He keeps everything soft-spoken, low-key, and yet by the end he conveys, with enormous power, the monstrous deceit of his actions. That precise, economical performance becomes the unblinking insider's eye that lets us take a peek at the fraudulent myth-making he creates for our tawdry consumption.

No Wonder he won Best Actor in the Cinemalaya Film Festival.

It's not just his performance that's commendable. Pasion's script is sharp, subtle, complex and thought-provoking, playing with and rearranging our notions of illusion and reality, truth and make-believe right up to the very last frame. (Brilliant lang yung tingin ko sa pagbrain storm nang mga kasama niya to work in the film to give us mixed genre and make it effective and not boring! talagang bebenta kasi yung twist and story line!) His multi-layered storytelling owes a debt to Almodovar, particularly to Bad Education, which, with generous dollops of bite and humor, also teased out the fine points of reality-making and truth-telling and the hazy subtexts in between.

At its most inspired, specifically the scenes of a wake in a barrio, Jay is howlingly funny, yet also piercingly discerning. You find yourself laughing and nodding your head at the same time. It's not the easiest film to make, thematically and stylistically; a few pushy moments induce the fear that it will inevitably lurch into camp or overwrought, self-conscious pomposity. But its poise holds throughout, giving us a movie whose grim vision will, I believe, only acquire prescient, consequential weight from now on--let TV be damned.

One of the FEW movies I Enjoyed and LOVE watching this 2008...(basically 3 pa nga lang ang movies na nagugustuhan ko both international and local movies na napapalabas!)

I Heard from berna na "100" which is also part of the Cinemalaya 08' is very interesting and well acted & directed..Better than Jay she added. I am looking forward to catch 100 and watch it too! I LOVE INDIE FILMS NA!!! They are all sooo UNIQUE and BRILLIANT!

KUDOS FOR THIS FILM!!!!

One Night, I was watching "THE SINGING BEE"...masingit ko lang toh ha.. may kaibigan ba naman ako na nagtanong sa akin, "aa nanonood ka ba nang buboy for short?! galing nang mga singers dun!" TAENA! Babatukan ko sana kaso Babae! haay! Singing Bee ineng! wag bobobeng bobeng!

ANYWAY..GOING BACK! ----> ayun nga, I remember si Apple Chiu (yung isa sa mga singers nang singing bee) yung kumanta nang song na ito eh... ang lyrics pa nga na to fill in ay ganito.. yung kinantang part ay.."Zoom You chase thatday away, High Noon the moon and stars came out to play, and then my whole wide world went _______" ayun! hindi nasagot..ang tamang sagot ay..."Zoom You chase thatday away,Hig Noon the moon and stars came out to play, and then my whole wide world went ZOOM" "TING!"

as my memory recall...naalala ko ang song na ito...I use to Listen to this song before, kaso iba lang yung beat sa singing bee kasi Live yun diba...naalala ko na nga na it's Regine Velasquez nga pala! Wala lang! Naalala ko pa dati, it's Like hearing an International Singer Sing this Song...Yung pagkakakanta kasi is kung kilala mo na si Regine Agad yung boses, madidistinguish mo agad pero kung radio listener ka and you heard the song first time, iisipin mo talaga na it's not a Filipino Artist...It's a not-so-Regine Song...One of Regine's Song and infairness it's not a Regine Birit dull song...this is not so Famous Song of Regine pero tumatatak sa mga OPM listeners and goer...

The Song really grows on me. This was first released and heard way back 1996 so calculation to the present is it's like 12 years ago na ang Song...wOw! but still, much appreciated by OPM listeners! Napa-Singing Bee pa nga eh! Oh diba!

Basta when you Listen to the Song think of the HAPPY Things and Be Young....

Think of these examples while listening to the song...

Beautiful Skies...

A Puppy or Young Love...

Your Crush...

Together Viewing the Sunset...

Flowers you recieved/ you have given...

Sweet Kisses...

On a Neon Sky...

Feeling FREE...

ZOOM

Originally Sung by: Fat Larry's Band; (1982)

Regine Velasquez

(from the album: Retro, 1996)

Zoom - Regine Velasquez

Zoom just one look
And then my heart went boom
Suddenly and we were on the moon
Flying high in the neon sky, oh

Bang just one touch
And all the church bells rang
Heaven called and all the angels sang
Sunrise shine in the midnight sky, oh

Zoom you chase the day away
High noon the moon and stars came out to play
Then my whole wide world went zoom

(I passed a rainbow as we went flying by
Faster and faster we were higher than high
For once in my lifetime I was finally free
And you came back to me)

Oh, zoom you chase the day away
High noon the moon and stars came out to play
Then my whole wide world went zoom

Moonbeams dancing in the afternoon
Shadows blowing as the roses bloom
Looking down on a wonderland, oh

Smack just one kiss
And I was outta whack
All at once there was no turning back
Oh so far above the brightest star, oh

Oh, zoom you chase the day away
High noon the moon
And stars came out to play

*note, those in itals, are what’s in her mis/conscience

***START***

ganito yun eh "nOh"..

We are all looking to a better brighter future (Yep, yep we are..WE ALL ARE GLORY!!!)

The worst since the end of world war (worst president...?! YES!)

Uncertainty has moved like a terrible tsunami all over the world

even as we reach out those who need us, we strive for greater self reliance (ho-kay! oh teka, gumagamit ka pa nang napaka tragic & idiomatic na "tsunami" aysus!)

because tough choices were made, the crisis did not reach us (pero mare, it did!, it did!!!!)

we have the money to care for our people (.....but we will not use it -gma & the cabinet)

i thank God (I thank Him too. At least we have something in common.)

for putting the bills, i thank the taxpayers (para may makurakot pa ko, salamat, salamat)

on the one hand ito ang nakasalba sa bayan, on the other hand, unpopularity for myself (if it saved the country, then you must be praised right? but you’re not, so either of the two is wrong)

yet the polls show lowering self-perceived poverty (bakit halos lahat ng sinabi mo may numbers, eto wala?)

i spend time everyday with the underprecented (talaga? sinong underprecedented ‘yan? nakatira ba ‘yan sa Greenhills? potek!)

i care for students (siyempre, lalo na ung malapit gumraduate, kasi new taxpayers ‘yan. yehey.)

nag-aalala ako sa 41-year na padre-de-pamilya na araw-araw nagtatrabaho (ows?!)

i care for the teachers (mga bagong huhubog ng taxpayers! joskooo!)

i care for our OFWs for their skills… the only one to to loved ones so far away (remittances n’yo ha? wag na kalimutan ha?)

i said this is a global crisis where everyone is a victim (except me. yes, except me)

how do we solve this many challenges? (hindi sagot ang pag-resign ko. puh-leeze.)

first, special care and attention, targeted strategy to ease the price challenges (and to survive)

third cannot be at the expense of long-term reforms (mabilis na CHACHA. yee-ha)

una, mabawasan ang ating mga ito, to insure our fiscal independence (my fiscal independence will also be insured)

3, sapat na pondo pang-masa (masa rin ako, kasi nag-ii-spend ako ng time with them ‘di ba? show me the money)

thus the infrastructure for our poorest provinces (enumerate provinces, Samar, etc., para maniwala sila)

take away VAT and you strip our people the ride to escape food and oil crises (escape?! ampf!)

leadership is not the first thing that comes to mind, but doing the hardest (hehe, quotable na ko.

there has been a fundamental shift in economics (me master’s degree ako dito ka shaddup)

nothing will be easy the government cannot solve this problem over night (kasi tulog ako nu’n)

since 2001 new irrigation for 146 hectares has increased our agricultural land to a historic 146 hectares (hehehehehe, daming puwedeng gawing golf course)

I instructed DA to revitalize farmer’s cooperatives (revitalize LANG)

we are providing seeds at subsidized prices to help our farmers (mga farmers sa makati, ‘di ba jocjoc?)

rice production since 2000 increased twice the population growth rate (nakonek ko! genius!)

we have curbed population growth in our administration down from last administration when artificial family planning was implemented (pwes, mas magaling ako)

now we come to the future of agrarian reform (hala? may singit munang family planning? tapos AR uli? tanga ng gumawa ng speech nito. ma-fire nga mamaya.)

indeed people are happier owning the land they work (ako, i work on the Philippine land, hence, i want to own the Philippines)

agrarian reform must raise living standards, productivity will keep the farmer at his feet

i want the rackets out of agrarian reform (palakpakan… teka sinabi ko ba ‘yon?)

we have built 39 RORO ports, 12 more are to start (galing ko ‘di ba?)

this year we launched the central nautical highway (asteeg)

thank you go negosyo and joey concepcion (love you. *wink*)

last night, issue on ancestral domain (mindanao) were resolved

Pope’s encyclical reminds us: concrete love for neighbour (bakit kino-quote si Pope?)

i ask congress to allow SSS to allow housing loans beyond the limit 10% (Neri, facilitate mo ha?)

we count on epira amendments (one, two, three, count)

we are succesful in increasing energy sufficiency (huh?)

we promote natural gas and biofuels (huh?)

the renewable energy bill, has passed the house thank you congressmen and congresswomen (thank you talaga)

our costly imports like rice and oil should be offset by hard ones, and soft ones, like tourism

our world competitiveness ranking has rose by notches (ayoko lang sabihin kung ilan, secret ‘yun)

to our investors thank you for your valuable role in our developments (penge pang kotong)

i invite you to invest not only in factories and services, but in infrastructure (mas marami kotong dun)

mining companies should ensure that communities benefit and no environmental damage (…)

reforestoration we have budgeted 2 million pesos for next year (and we have pocketed…)

forests mitigate climate change (…)

we have set-up over a hundred marine sanctuaries since 2001 (hundred lang?)

Alan Amante (blah, blah, taong example)

all that is needed is to keep home clean and for public officials to stop squabbling (and keep me out of it)

i will continue to fight this battle every single day

while others are happy with headlines with accusations without evidence

the largest anti-graft fund in history for vigorous prosecution (natatakot naman ako dito…)

the conviction rate has increased 500% (*scared*)

lifestyle check has ensured prosecution and dismissals of dozens of public officials (dozens lang)

colleagues in congress, we need a more stringent anti-graft act (exempt the president, eh?)

we are three branches but one government, we are nation with one faith (…)

i care too much for our nation, (ows? especially your taxes!! hahaha!)

i will have no one’s political plans threaten our nation’s survival

our country and our people have never failed to be there for us, we must be there for them now

maraming salamat (*bunton-hininga*)

English Translation:

Every time my stare meets yours, I show my styles, I have my youth
Just like everyone else, like following the current, just one look and it's forgotten
Every time my energy controls yours, I show my styles, I have my youth
Just like everyone else, it's not true, the youth is getting different

There's nothing wrong if you protect me, because I am special
When the spring flourishes the flowers, you have to remember my smile
Jiro: There's nothing wrong if you admire me, because no one is as good as me
When the summer brings back the warmth of my heart, it proves that I'm back

Because youth is a secret but interesting recipe, when you understand it you will see the miracle
Just like when the four seasons meet together, lets you experience the four different charms

There's nothing wrong if you love me, because you have no other options
When the autumn brings a bashful breeze, you have to remember my stare

There's nothing wrong if you miss me, because no one is better than me
When the winter passes on a sonata, it reminds you that I'm still here

wAaH!! (part 3: FEI LUN HAI to STARDOM)

I'm dedicating my mOod for bLogs at the moment to FAHRENHEIT! hahaha! oMfG! can't resist! hahaha!

FAHRENHEIT
(Fahrenheit - From left to right: Wu Chun, Aaron Yan, Calvin Chen, Jiro Wang)

[Fahrenheit Biography]

Fahrenheit (traditional Chinese: 飛輪海; pinyin: Fēi Lún Hǎi) is a Taiwanese boy band that has achieved major success in the last two years in Taiwan, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam as well as the rest of Southeast Asia. This group consists of four members: Calvin Chen, Jiro Wang, Wu Chun, and Aaron Yan. They are managed by Jerry Fen's Comic Productions Co., Ltd. and records albums with HIM International Music. They are also managed by WOW Music in Hong Kong. Fahrenheit are often associated with their seniors, S.H.E, and are commonly referred to as the most successful Taiwanese boy band after F4.They released their self-titled debut album, Fahrenheit, on September 15, 2006 while their much anticipated second album Two-sided Fahrenheit was released on January 4, 2008.

Derived from the definition of Fahrenheit, each of the four members represents a season or temperature that corresponds with their different personalities. Calvin Chen represents spring, warm; Jiro Wang represents summer, hot; Wu Zun represents autumn, cool, and lastly, Aaron Yan represents winter, cold. Each of the four members also has his respective temperature represented on the Fahrenheit scale: Calvin Chen is at 77 degrees, Jiro Wang is at 95 degrees, Wu Zun is at 59 degrees, and Aaron Yan is at 41 degrees. Each of their temperatures are separated by 18 degrees.

Musical Style

All four members of this group have contradicting vocal ranges to complement each other when harmonizing. Wu Chun's voice ranges from within the bass to the baritone. Therefore, Wu usually harmonizes as the supporting voice but sings more in songs when they are intended for a lower key. Wu's voice can be easily distinguished from his accent. Jiro Wang's vocal ranges is less wide when compared to Wu's, but Wang has a higher voice, closer to a tenor approach with vocal belting techniques. His voice is the easiest to distinguish out of the four because of its nasal sound. Calvin Chen and Aaron Yan are the baritone to tenor vocalists of the group, and therefore are the predominant voices in most of their songs. Although their voices are difficult to distinguish at times, Yan's voice has a richer and higher voice and usually does the singing the melody with a vibrato while Chen usually does the supporting vocals. Ultimately, Yan has been acknowledged as the member with the most impressive vocal ability. In most songs, Wu Chun sings the harmony, while Calvin takes the higher harmony, and Aaron sings the melody and often any parts of the songs which require a rich and high voice, and Jiro either does melody as well, or does the other parts of the songs, i.e rapping.

Rise to stardom

Before Fahrenheit released their first album in September 15 of 2006, they gained minor attention as singers from contributing in several Taiwanese drama soundtracks. Their popularity immediately rose after the soundtracks were released, but was only limited to Taiwan and Mainland China. After their first album was released, their fan base had extended to Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia . Overseas fans such as from North America and Europe are also getting more familiar with them.

As soon as announcements for their debut album pre-order was released on August 30, 2006, the album broke past 10,000 copies. [3] After its release in September 15, 2006, the album entered the G-music charts and was ranked #2. It was less than 1% below Jay Chou's Still Fantasy album, which came out two weeks prior to the release. [4] Fahrenheit's album sold passed an impressive 80,000 copies in Taiwan within the first month. [5] Ultimately on the G-music Mandarin Charts their album was ranked 11th for the top 20 of 2006 and stayed in the charts for 17 weeks. [6] Their primary song, or zhuda (Chinese: 主打; pinyin: zhǔ dǎ) song, "I Have My Youth" (我有我的Young) was on Hong Kong's Global Rhythm List as the Top 16th song for weeks. Their duet with Hebe of girl group S.H.E also won them several popular awards. Fahrenheit was also the first new foreign boy band to have won third place for Best Group at Hong Kong's TVB8 Awards. Although unable to defeat their seniors S.H.E and Twins, who had won first place and second place respectively, they have beaten Hong Kong's local boy bands such as Sun Boy'z and Soler. In less than a year, Fahrenheit has already won eight awards. Despite the outburst of winning multiple awards, there had been debates where fans disagreed with the awards that they have won. The most debated topic was when Fahrenheit won HITO Music Awards 2007's Best Male Group award, arguing that Fahrenheit is too inexperienced to have won the award.

Tie-ups and theme songs

wAaH!! (part 1)

seriously, this is one of the reasons why I am Proud to be ASIAN! MABUHAY ASIA!
hahaha! well, last time I felt this Fan Admiration is way back 2001 to F4 (famous for Meteor Garden I & II) They were very famous all over asia...especially in the Philippines! I'm A GUY! (to make it clear!) BUT i just appreciate people with the same gender as well... Well, My Tolerance for Appreciation is VERY HIGH anyway! GOT IT?! Don't get me wrong for admiring people of the same sex! hahahaha! =)

sO... what's this addiction all abOut?! It's very ASIAN! hahaha! It started when I have my Hanazakarino Kimitachihe (花樣少年少女) or simply known in the Philippines as "HANA KIMI (The ORIGINAL)". The Series is so Funny, Jolly, Bubbly, Light, Well-Acted and Catchy! sObra! I RATE THIS 8.5/10 for it's outstanding performance! Sorry for the Japanese Version but it's a Flop in Asia...(well enough for HANA KIMI, there would be a seperate critic for this!)

next was, Romantic Princess 《公主小妹》 Gong Zhu Xiao Mei, previously known as, Wo Jia Gong Zhu《我家公主》, which brings us the story similar to GOONG (PALACE) a.k.a. "Princess Hours"...seeing only taiwanese actors doing the drama...but looking at the show at some point, the story is not likely similar to Goong. well, the SERIES brings us here in the Philippines 2 of the Hottest and sought after Asian Heartrobs...

hAay! how i wish i was there! hahaha! swerte nang mga pumunta sa E-Live!, PDA, ASAP and The Buzz! waaah! i was about to watch UAAP that time kaso sabi ko, "mga pinoy naman yang nasa UAAP at kaparehas ko lang silang College students, hindi mahirap abutin kaya, dun tayo manuod sa medyo next level ang dating! hahaha!" grabeh! I was all over TV @ ABS-CBN watching... WU CHUN & CALVIN CHEN! watdafuck!

Let me introduce to you guys...

"FAHRENHEIT"

ending this part I with an understatement...
